Livin' on Island Time -- Sanibel 2012

"Wishing I was knee deep in the water somewhere
Got the blue sky breeze and it don't seem fair
Only worry in the world is the tide gonna reach my chair"

We kicked off summer break with our annual trip to Sanibel Island.  For a flashback, here are recaps from our prior Sanibel shenanigans here and here and here and here and here (whew!).  This place has my heart.

So many sweet memories and many more to come.

Serious business

Burning off Cheeburger Cheeburger lunch

Buried Briggy in the sand

Low tide is the best time

Paddleboarding

As usual, we snapped some family portraits too.  You just can't beat the beautiful scenery...makes for special shots!

(be looking for some of these shots in a soon-to-be updated blog header!)

Easter -- He is Risen!

***Taking the time being home-bound due to Tropical Storm Debby to catch up as I'm a little behind on happenings in our neck of the woods!***

"As they were frightened and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead?  He is not here, but has risen!"

We had a blessed Easter (as they all are) this year.  Started the day with church, then supper and Easter eggs, and all sorts of other goodies in between!

Memory Monday

We just wrapped up Mother's Day weekend, so today's Memory Monday goes a few years back.  Mother's Day 2010, my first as a mother of TWO, and Brigdon's dedication day.

Spring Portraits

With barely any time to spare before Easter, I managed to stitch up some matching neck ties for my boys to wear Easter Sunday.  And one muggy Spring Break morning, they got slicked up and we headed out for some (quick) Spring portraits.

Pretty dapper if I don't say so myself

So dreamy

Another Year

It's May 1st yet again.  Today marks the anniversary of the day I lost my dad.  And though I've kept busy today and managed to keep my mind from wandering, I didn't want the day to end without me posting a few words for such an occasion.

Two years ago, on the tenth anniversary I wrote this blog post.  Just a few minutes ago, I pulled it up and read over it again.  To be honest, not much has changed in our life since then.  We're still dancing to the music of pitter-patter feet and watching our boys grow and change.  Life doesn't stop and the world keeps turning.  My God is still faithful.

Miss you Dad -- excited to see you again someday soon and introduce you to a couple of sweet, rowdy little boys I know.

Spring Breakin'

I remember being a kid and so anxious for spring break.  Besides the obvious fact that it's a break from school, moreso it is the sure sign that summer break is near.  This year was Harrison's second spring break ever, and in keeping with tradition (see what we got into last spring break here), we wanted to make it special (but still budget-friendly).

The first rite of warm weather?  Bustin' out the Slip & Slide!

And nothing more refreshing than hose water on a hot day

My favorite part of Spring?  Garden time!

...with a full backseat!

A special "date" to dinner and Toy Story 3 on ice!

A "good" Friday with Daddy that included putt-putt golf.
