We just wrapped up Mother's Day weekend, so today's Memory Monday goes a few years back.  Mother's Day 2010, my first as a mother of TWO, and Brigdon's dedication day.

***After a long break from blogging, I'm back -- and very glad about it!***

We're recovering from a busy Thanksgiving weekend full of food, shopping, and fun.  More about our holiday shananigans in tomorrow's Tuesday Ten.  But for today, it's Memory Monday!

For today, I'm going to jump back a little further than one year ago to TWO years ago.  We were a family of three at that time and anxiously awaiting baby Brig to make his appearance.  We celebrated the holiday, but opted for no shopping.  Instead, we packed for the hospital, tied up loose ends for the nursery, and put up Christmas decorations.  And it was perfect timing because the Monday after Thanksgiving, we welcomed our sweet pistol of a fella Brigdon David Chapman to our family, and we have never been the same.

"It's just another Manic Monday...."  But, we're praising God for a new week and new mercies!

But in the style of Memory Monday, let's look back one year ago and see what the Chapman brood was up too.

We just wrapped up the county fair here in our small town this past weekend, so I found it quite fitting to highlight that for today's Memory Monday.  My boys -- especially Harrison -- l.o.v.e. the fair!  And though our county is small, so is our fair, but nevertheless, it's a blast for the kids.  The weather has been rough this past week, and we actually never made a true fair night with the boys (the first time in years that we've skipped it!), but Harrison's school had a field trip one morning and they were able to see a few shows, check out the exhibits and the animals.  No rides and no (yummy!) fair food, but it was enough for him.

Memory Monday

School is well underway and I'm happy to report that H is loving it!  He's completely exhausted at the end of the day, but this Mama is so very glad.  A quick kiss and he hops right out of the truck in the mornings, and has a huge smile on his face when he hops off the bus in the afternoons.  We're in a routine and it's truly been great. 

BUT - Looking back one year ago, my boy wasn't yet a seasoned big-school kid, but just a preschooler trying to learn the ins and outs.  I can remember him bringing home that first week's work on Friday and seeing this tucked in his folder....

Memory Monday

This is a very special Memory Monday because it's Harrison's first day of Kindergarten!  Yes, that teeny 6-pound 11-ounce bouncing baby boy who seemingly was just snoozing on my chest and making sweet baby sounds is now big enough for kindergarten.  It's truly bittersweet.  As sad as I am to see him growing up (so very quickly), I'm ready to celebrate this next stage. 

So, let's take a look back one year ago at Harrison's first day of Preschool...

It's hard for me to wrap my mind around the fact that this photo was an entire year ago...seriously seems like maybe 3 months ago.  And from what I hear from seasoned Mamas, the time really flies from this point.  I'll have a full "first day" post up in the next few days, so stay tuned!

It's been a true-blue Florida heatwave of a summer...and we're right in the thick of it.  I have a handful of close friends that are pregnant and I feel so miserable for them.  Not the being pregnant part, but the being-pregnant-in-the-heat-of-summer part.  Ick.  In fact, after growing my hair out for what seems like forever, I've come *this close* to hacking it off just simply because it's entirely too hot for long hair.  BUT come dreary, gray January, there's only one thing I'll be missing?  The precious heat of summer. 

As of now, it's officially too hot for any activity outside that doesn't include water.  So, in true Memory Monday fashion, we're going back to last summer for a look at how we keep our cool.

Taking a quick glance back one year ago...

We were right in the thick of summer.  Hot, muggy mornings outside and nice, long afternoon naps (for the boys, not for me) in the A/C!

This time last year, we were finishing up Vacation Bible School at church...Harrison's first VBS experience actually.  He had the most fun that week and I had the privilege of leading his class. 

My other little pipsqueak -- this time a year ago -- was on the verge of feeding himself.  It's no surprise both my boys are good eaters and love the eat.  (Have you seen their Mama...enough said)!

Seeing as tomorrow my first-born will turn 5, it's a fitting Memory Monday to look back at his 4th birthday.  It never ceases to amaze me what a difference a year makes.  These critters do not even look the same as today!
